The Mob Character Who Reincarnated in an Otome Game Is an Ally of the Heroine — Part 3

Our homeroom teacher and student council advisor—he looks like a stereotypical host, but he’s actually a solid teacher on the inside.

His lessons are easy to understand, even if his attitude can be a bit... unique.

“Alright, Shinoyama and Sakuramiya, can you go grab those documents for me?”

“...Sensei, could you maybe not start bossing people around first thing in the morning?”

He can be quite demanding.

I don’t really mind him asking the heroine for errands, though. It often triggers some kind of event.

But still…!!

Don’t involve me!!

It takes a lot of skill to subtly slip away whenever a student council or teacher-related event seems about to start.

“Yes! Got it, Mr. Shida! Let’s go, Shinoyama-kun!”

For some reason, Sakuramiya looks incredibly happy. Maybe she's just thrilled to be called on by our homeroom teacher.

Well, as long as she eventually chooses one person, it doesn’t matter if she’s raising everyone’s affection points in the meantime.

In my mind, I silently cheer on my childhood friend.

Meanwhile, why is everyone around us giving our teacher such admiring looks? Even my childhood friend is giving him a thumbs-up.

…Could our teacher be having his own popularity boom?

“Alright, I’m counting on you,” says the teacher with a smirk.

Feeling a bit annoyed by his smugness, I give him a light chop on the shoulder before hurrying off with Sakuramiya to get the documents. We barely make it back before the start of class. That guy, honestly.

At lunchtime, I head up to the rooftop with my childhood friend and the others. Naturally, Sakuramiya, the heroine, is with us as well.

The heroine, the capture targets, and the mob… Yeah, I’ll slip away once I find a good chance.

When we open the rooftop door, I spot a familiar face lying down.

“Kurose, skipping again?”

The delinquent guy, a typical bad boy and another capture target, sits up in response to my voice. He’s got a striking face, naturally, since he’s one of the main love interests. He was also supposed to be the student council’s general affairs officer originally.

“Oh, it’s Shinoyama and the others. What time is it?”

“It’s lunchtime; that’s why we’re here.”

“Kuro-chan, same as always, huh?”

“Come on, at least attend class once in a while. Sometimes Masahiko (my childhood friend) gets roped into looking for you.”

“Hey, I’m in the top five on the tests, right?”

“Excuse me, but how come Kurose-kun always scores well despite acting like this?”

Sakuramiya pouts a little, looking adorable, which momentarily mesmerizes the capture targets.

…Alright, can I go home now?

By the way…

“Kurose, got lunch with you?”

“Nah.”

“Eat something; it’s bad for you to skip meals. Here, take this bread I have for snacking.”

“Oh, thanks, man. I owe you.”

Alright, with this, Kurose has food, and I can leave without disrupting the heroine’s bonding time with the capture targets!

“Alright, I’ll go grab Kurose something to eat, so you all can start lunch without me.”

Sakuramiya looks slightly disappointed as she glances over at me.

Well, sorry for dragging Kurose away, but please take this time to get closer to the other capture targets. As long as it doesn’t turn into a reverse harem, I’ll keep rooting for you.

As we leave the rooftop and head back toward the classroom, Kurose mutters to himself in a tone of mild exasperation,

“You’re as consistent as ever.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“Nothing, really. Just… I’ve been curious. You sure do hang out with someone like me a lot.”

“Well, you might look like a delinquent, but on the inside, you’re just a regular guy. Besides, you’re my precious sparring partner for karate practice.”

I flash him a grin, and he blinks in surprise before breaking into a reluctant smile. Despite his tough appearance, he’s just a regular high school guy.

And with my mental age, plus memories from my past life, I’m over thirty now. What could I possibly be afraid of?

“Oh, by the way, you don’t have a girlfriend, but is there anyone you like? For instance, Sakuramiya?”

I decide to steer the conversation in a classic high school boy direction by asking about crushes. Kurose makes a face, clearly not amused.

“Sakuramiya? Absolutely not.”

Wait a second—he’s one of the capture targets, right?

“Huh? Really? She’s cute and a nice person.”

“Well… she definitely has a good eye for people. Just don’t go saying things like that in front of her.”

He looks at me with a mix of pity and exasperation, which somehow feels worse than just being told off. And why does he seem to know who Sakuramiya likes? It’s a mystery.

After giving him the bread, I hurried back to find the heroine happily chatting with the others. I instinctively turned to sneak away.

After cleaning duty, I rushed to the student council room. Just as I reached for the door, it opened from the inside, surprising me a little.

“It’s been a while, Shinoyama.”

Ah, the stereotypical glasses-wearing, polite-speaking vice president.

With a cool look and a sharp demeanor, he seems like he’d be calculating, but he’s actually just a hard-working and capable guy. He’s often out sick, which probably adds to his distant aura. Still, he makes a real effort to come to student council meetings.
